When did you join the staff at Lifepointe? May of 2008
What is in your CD player (or Ipod) right now? Mostly I have the radio playing - its free! You can also catch me listening to Joel Close and Eddie Berrios on the weekends.
What book have you read or could you read more than once? Other than the Bible - Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Good to Great, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, The Divine Conspiracy, Unstoppable Force, and the list goes on . . . A book is always better the second time around.
What is your favorite way to spend a free Saturday? Hanging out with my family, cycling, reading, watching a movie, eating really good food.
Why are you in ministry? I am in vocational ministry because of a call I experienced in college back in 1996. After reading a passage in Matthew I felt a conviction to dedicate the rest of my life to serving God full time. There were times I doubted the call and felt inadequate to serve Him in this capacity, but they were always followed by clear confirmation that I am on the right path. There is no greater high than to have God work through you to help another person experience new freedom and blessings as a Christ follower.
Describe an experience that has impacted your life in ministry: My wife and I started a small group with some of the members of our church that lived in our neighborhood. Even though we had never met before, our group quickly became very close. That initial group grew and eventually multiplied to two groups that eventually became four. Realizing that our connection and love for one another had now impacted the lives of people we didn't really know was an amazing experience that has added great meaning and purpose to our lives. I see my main focus for the rest of my life to invest in leaders that will reproduce more leaders for God's kingdom.
Who has impacted you the most? Apart from God, my wife Lisa has by far influenced and shaped me the most as we continue to become one in mind and spirit. She is my one true friend, the person I most confide in and rely on. Our home orbits around her.
Recently the writing and speaking of Erwin McManus has reignited my barbarian spirit and encouraged me to step out and take risks for the Kingdom. It is a call to the life of adventure that the early believers of Christ experienced who were willing to follow God anywhere.
